How to get there

San Casciano in Val di Pesa village is situated 5 Km far from the omonimous outing of the raccordo autostradale RA03 (dual carriageway connecting Florence to Siena) and 8 km far from Firenze Impruneta exit (till 2011 named Firenze-Certosa) of Autostrada A1 motorway.

You can easily get to the holiday house which is close to the centre of the village, following indication signs for I Chisci car park, that is about 50 metres beyond, on the same road. A more detailed ruote information is given upon booking based on where you will come from.

Travelling in Tuscany without a car?

Visiting Tuscany without a car is not a big issue for the guests of our vacation home. There is a coach service that connects San Casciano in Val di Pesa to Florence and nearby towns. The last stop in Florence is Piazza Vittorio Veneto, (since 1st August 2022 the line no more reaches the terminal opposite the central railway station). From Piazza Vittorio Veneto you can take a tram (T1 line) for free to reach Piazza della Stazione (the ticket San Casciano-Florence is valid also for that path), so you can get trains that will lead you to any Tuscan or Italian city.

Public transport to/from Florence historic centre - updated 2024

A frequent interurban coach service by Autolinee Toscane (previously Busitalia/SITA) connects the village of San Casciano to Florence, Siena and other tourist resorts of Tuscany. The Florence - San Casciano in Val di Pesa journey takes about 30 minutes, there are at least two departures every hour (except Sunday), ticket cost as of 2024 is 3.50 euros. So you can avoid using a car to move away from the vacation home.

The coaches departure terminal in Florence is, since 1st August 2022, located in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, from there you can take the tram (stop Porta al Prato – Leopolda) to Alamanni and Valfonda stops for free, using the same extra-urban ticket.
That's the heart of Florence, just outside the main train station Firenze Santa Maria Novella, few hundred meters from main cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, Uffizi museum etc.

The coach terminal in San Casciano in Val di Pesa is about 550 meters from the holiday house.

Public transport to/from Florence Airport

Florence Airport Amerigo Vespucci is at 32.5 km (see map). From outside the airport you can take a Taxi (about 60 euros) to Il Visciolo or get a tram T2 line to Alamanni Stazione then T1 to Porta al Prato - Leopolda. From the hub of Vittorio Veneto take an interurban coach service (see above) to San Casciano. The shuttle bus service VolaInBus/Firenze Airlink has been dismissed in 2022.

Public transport to/from Pisa Airport

In Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa, railway tickets are sold at the information office in the arrivals hall, the railway terminal is located 40 meters outside the departures hall.
From the airport leaves a train to Florence's main station every 30 minutes, take one and get off at the final stop (Firenze SMN). The trip takes about one hour. See above for the details of transportation from Florence to San Casciano.

Pisa airport is bigger than Florence one and is connected to many european cities by low cost flight like Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air.

To/From Siena

To reach Siena from San Casciano by coach you have to change at Poggibonsi. We suggest you use the car as there are many car parkings just outside the town centre.
